The Reality of Climate Change?

The end of the world as we know it?

“Life as we know it could be threatened by catastrophic outcomes as a result of climate change if action is not taken.”

This is not a new message.

Climate-Reality-End-of-the-world-as-we-know-it?

Has this dire climate message come from Extinction Rebellion, Greta Thurnberg, Friends of the Earth, George Monbiot, Greenpeace?

No – not in this case.

This message comes today from a group of economists at JP Morgan Chase (Via the BBC).

Economists have historically pursued growth without ecological / physical / environmental / social context (with a few notable exceptions like Kate Raworth) and JP Morgan has been heavily criticised for its investments in fossil fuels by groups such as the Rainforest Action Network and many others.

A new climate reality?

While the bank is to some extent distancing itself from the independent group of economists is this another sign that mainstream finance is waking up to issues and the task at hand?

Are we finally moving towards a new outlook that includes what matters?
